Two great opportunities

I really enjoyed today. Today is the transition day between the academic seminars of the first week, and the fieldwork of the second, which for most people starts tomorrow. Today about 20 of us from The Washington Center, along with others, got to go on a VIP tour of the Time Warner Cable Arena, where the Democratic National Convention is being held.

Here’s the outside (the DNC starts Tuesday so I’m not surprised they aren’t ready yet):

and here’s the stage:

It was really cool to see the convention floor and stage before it’s swarming with people.

Next up, a taping of Washington Week, a public affairs program on PBS, hosted by Gwen Ifill.

Here’s the stage:

You can watch the episode here by the way

I’ve never been to a taping of anything before so it was really cool to see the behind the scenes aspect of the show.

Tomorrow: I start my fieldwork and a media party!

More soon!
